Cathal Cogan Trading ...a brief history
Cathal Cogan Trading only opened it’s doors in January 2017 but Cathal has been involved in all aspects of construction machinery sales since first being sent to used machinery auctions in the UK and continental Europe to buy for the family business when aged 16 after leaving school and still without a drivers license.
Since then he has had hands on experience in the purchase, sales, marketing, repair, dismantling and transport of all types and sizes of construction machinery.
The years spent in the family business involved everything from agri machinery (tractors/implements/self propelled harvesters/combines) through popular construction machinery (diggers/teleporters/dumpers/backhoes/excavators), up to specialized plant like (crushers/screeners/demolition machines/recycling facilities/) as well as trucks, commercials , 4WDs and cars.
When Cathal decided to start his own business, it was always going to involve dealing in what he knew best, wheeled loaders/loading shovels but mainly one type , Volvo.
Volvo loaders have been a focus since his father John Cogan moved away from importing combine harvesters from the UK in the early 70s and moved on to MF industrial loaders before trying a Volvo loaders.
The Volvo loader has been a constant ever since and experience has shown that for anyone doing heavy work and big hours, nothing else will do.
Cathal Cogan Trading specialises in Volvo loaders as we have years of knowledge on them and customers who know nothing else will last the same and do their job, regardless of age or hours.
We deal with the agricultural sector including tillage and dairy farmers, silage contractors, grain merchants, bulk storage companies and fertiliser companies.
We also supply many machines to the recycling/waste disposal sector, aggregate/rock/sand/gravel/concrete suppliers and we also carry a wide range of different options in attachments, wheels and specification.
We know that our customers don’t work 9 to 5 so neither do we, we are available late into the night and also at weekends with our own truck and low loader ready to go on the road if needed.
